Tirkandi Inaburra relies on a partnership between the Aboriginal community and government.
Our main recurrent funder is the NSW Attorney General’s Department. This Department also provided $4million towards the Centre’s construction, with the remaining funds being granted by the former Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Commission.
The NSW Department of Education and Training is another major partner, providing funding for one head teacher, two teachers and two teaching assistant positions at the Centre through the Coleambally Central School.
Our Management Board consists of representatives of Tirkandi Inaburra, the NSW Attorney General’s Department, the Department of Education and the Department of Health. A senior representative of the Department of Community Services also advises the Management Board in an ex officio capacity.
We also forged numerous other strategic relationships that provided us with support from many other government and non-government agencies, including the Federal Attorney General’s Department, the NSW Department of Lands, TAFE, the NSW Department of Aboriginal Affairs, the Roads and Traffic Authority, the Department of Juvenile Justice, Murrumbidgee College, Murrumbidgee Catchment Authority, the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources, Murrumbidgee Shire Council, Country Energy, DETNAC, Birrang Enterprise Development Company Ltd and the Griffith Aboriginal Medical Service.
